Eating kiwis during pregnancy

Eating kiwis during pregnancy is good for both mums and their babies!

Pregnancy is a crucial and long-awaited moment for many women. Adopting appropriate behaviour, especially during the first trimester, is really important, both for the health of a mother-to-be and for her baby.

A proper pregnancy diet with a lot of fruit and vegetables plays a fundamental role in providing vitamins, nutrients and beneficial substances: these include folic acid, which is indispensable for supplying oxygen to cells and for the growth of the foetus.

During pregnancy, expectant mothers need up to 50% more folic acid and can supplement it by consuming foods such as artichokes, turnips, cereals, legumes, eggs and kiwis.

The latter, in addition to being rich in folates, help to relieve constipation, a very common condition in pregnant women; kiwis also contain high levels of potassium, a substance that helps to combat depression, fatigue and digestive disorders, and serotonin, which is beneficial for sleep and stress reduction.

And these aren’t kiwis’ only properties! This magical fruit is packed with antioxidants, the best allies in the fight against free radicals and aging: we therefore not only advise people to consume it daily, but also recommend numerous beauty treatments for the body, face and hair made from kiwi fruit.

Last but not least, vitamin C, which is essential for strengthening the immune system and preventing numerous ailments: did you know that kiwis contain more of this vitamin than oranges and lemons?

Kiwis are a delicious source of vitamins that offers a real health boost for pregnant women… and everyone else!
